Professional Experience

INTERACTIONS CORPORATION – Carmel, IN                                                                                         2004-Present

Chief Technical Officer

Recruited to create and implement the technology vision, develop / plan products, evaluate / adopt technology into the organization, and initiate industry standards for an early stage company, directly collaborating with the CEO. Led the design, architecture, lab testing, and delivery of the first fully deployed hybrid Interactive Voice Recognition system. Present the companyÕs product, benefits, and vision to investors and analysts to garner funding and exposure in the marketplace. Analyze industry landscape, and adapt product to meet market needs / changes and ensure competitive advantage.

Key Achievements:

¯  Led technical due diligence for series A, B and C funding, which resulted in $32 million in private equity.

¯  Led technical architecture and integration efforts to ensure HIPAA, SOX, and S-70 / PCI security standards.

¯  Built out a fully redundant, nationwide MPLS network. Provided expertise in integration, design of data centers, system engineering, and vendor selections.

¯  Selected to present 'Delivering State-of-the-Art Voice Services' at TheServerSide.com's Java Symposium 2008. 

¯  Increased customer completion ratios from 21% to 39% for a client, which reduced call center staff and enabled client to terminate plan for construction of a new call center.

¯  Evaluated, selected, and implemented a company-wide ticketing system for tracking all internal and client issues.

¯  Evaluated, selected and implemented a Wiki, allowing for effective internal communications and documentation.

INDEPENDENT CONSULTANT – Charlotte, NC                                                                                           2002-2003

Consulted with clients to develop and implement key projects to drive information stability, security, accessibility, usability, and reporting capabilities, including business intelligence, database / data warehouse, network, and infrastructure initiatives. Selected equipment and negotiated partnership agreements with providers of outside resources to accomplish project requirements.

Key Project Engagements:

¯  Premier Healthcare, Charlotte, North Carolina

o   Spearheaded the integration between MicroStrategy BI tool and internal Premier systems, which involved data center creation, equipment selection, negotiations with CISCO for network and infrastructure, and devising systems to transfer database information to data warehouse to run business intelligence system. 

¯  Thomson Financial, New York City, New York 

o   Evaluated existing system, developed architecture / migration path, and trained staff for moving a Fixed Income Securities trading platform from C++ and Java to a J2EE compliant architecture, which allowed integration with existing Thomson front and back office systems. 

RCN (formerly 21ST Century Telecom Group) – Chicago, IL / Orlando, FL                                                 1999-2001

Acting Chief Technical Officer – Unbound Communications (2001)

Appointed to form the company and facilitate technical operations at the onset of a joint venture with V-Tech. Built development and QA teams. Transitioned company to new management team in new San Diego, CA location

Key Achievements:

¯  Designed the next generation system architecture enabling larger load and multiple device models.

Vice President Off-Site Development / Business Services Group (1999-2001)

Transitioned to 21st Century Telecom Group subsequent to EnteractÕs acquisition, charged with business development and system design initiatives. Initiated Orlando-based development group, consisting of 30 developers, R&D, quality assurance, and systems administration personnel.  

Key Achievements:

¯  Designed and delivered a multi-tier system that enabled VTech to begin releasing e-mail enabled consumer appliance systems, which utilized Java, Perl, C++, Solaris, Windows NT Server, WebLogic, SQLServer, and Qmail. Created workflow process integration with TelutionÕs Customer Care Suite, help desk, e-mail servers, and RADIUS user authentication.

¯  Received patent for a new process to push configuration data to a device.

¯  Entered R&D phase for Version 2, which involved collaborating with product development and engineering teams in Hong Kong to create products with more robust functionality and marketability.

ENTERACT, LLC – Chicago, IL                                                                                                                   1995-1999

President / Co-Founder

Launched an Internet service provider by designing an infrastructure, network, and customer care system focused on security and reliability. Formulated key departments to address company growth requirements and client needs, including sales, marketing, billing, and customer care divisions. Involved in network operations, including shell scripting and router configurations, and developing applications that integrated various systems, which allowed for heterogeneous workflow processes. Completed sale of company to 21st Century Telecom.

Key Achievements:

¯  Grew revenue from zero to $5 million and customer base to more than 10,000 clients; increased employee-base from 2 to 50 due to exceptional quality and customer service.

¯  Instituted frequent customer contact and update programs, designed to inform customers of service events and new product offerings, in addition to requesting feedback.

¯  Designed, developed, and implemented a flexible customer billing system, providing key competitive advantages.

Consultant / Architect / Lead Developer

Served as a consultant, architect, and lead developer on numerous projects, ranging from hardware development, software system design / integration, and computer-based training systems for mid-size companies to large-enterprise customers.

Key Project Engagements:

¯  BellSouth Project – Atlanta, Georgia (1995)

o   Led team of 15 developers in the creation of several components to rewrite BellSouthÕs customer care and provisioning system, which enabled transition of information from outdated black box systems to a next generation architecture through incorporation of a middleware piece.

¯  IBM PC Division Project – Atlanta, Georgia (1994)

o   Participated as a key member of the Server 320 Dual Processor Development Team.

¯  HBOC – Atlanta, Georgia (1993 – 1994)

o   Developed integration engine allowing systems from different vendors to share patient information as a project technical lead.

¯  Aero Training Project – Tampa, Florida (1992 – 1993)

o   Served as primary architect and developer for a computer-based training system for airline pilots, which included photo realistic renditions of cockpits to reduce time and costs for simulator utilization.

¯  IBM ISSC Project – Dallas, Texas (1992)

o   Headed up the principal architecture for a comprehensive bidding system for IBM Federal Systems, which enabled faster quote turnaround times.

¯  CPA Firm – Atlanta, GA (1992)

o   Created and deployed a complete accounting package for a CPA firm, including GL, AR, AP, and Payroll.
